Romans were more of a full cycle Basil worshipper whereas, the  Gauls primarily performed their basil rituals with the harvest (just as its flowering for them, whenever we want fresh basil for us).
 
Step 1: Sow the seeds while uttering swear words and insults (Roman tradition).


Step 2: Wash the hand with which you intend to harvest - must be washed 3 times in 3 freshwater streams (Gaul tradition).

*Tulsi Basils & Hindu Uses

Basil is an ancient herb and there are multiple variations within the genus ocimum. In Hindu tradition, the basil referred to is Tulsi Basil or Holy Basil which scientifically called ocimum tenuiflorum.

Tulsi Basil is believed to be an avatar of Lakshmi (also wife/divine power of Vishnu), a goddess of wealth, spiritual awakening, and abundance.

In Hinduism, it is considered a sacred ritual to care for one's basil plant.
